Chris Michael Stevens

We are very excited to announce that trumpeter, producer, artist and songwriter Christopher Michael Stevens is our Spring Garden Records 2024-2025 Artist in Residence!



Stevens is a Camden, New Jersey native and Temple University graduate who has been creating music since he was a teenager. The Grammy Award nominated songwriter has performed alongside artists such as John Legend, Eric Roberson, The Roots, Tye Tribbett & G.A., Ms. Lauryn Hill, and many more.

Share Your Creative Influence with Aspiring Musicians

Use your talent to enrich the lives of students pursuing a degree in music while you pursue your own artistic endeavors. Community College of Philadelphia’s Music department and Spring Garden Records are offering a one-year Artist in Residence (AIR) program. This is an opportunity to create music in a state-of-the-art studio while enabling students to learn from your industry experience and process as they gain real-world credentials for their career.

Program Features

* Participate in a combination of masterclasses, guest lectures, performances and panel discussions—a minimum of eight activities throughout the residence (more are encouraged)

* Create a single, EP or full-length album release for Spring Garden Records at the College’s studio

*Allow students to join you in the studio as you work on your music release

Ben O'Neill Artist in Residence

Community College of Philadelphia is proud to announce Ben O’Neill as this year’s Artist in Residence. The year-long residency is a public facing art initiative engaging students and the public through experiential learning. The program is in collaboration with the College’s Music Department and Spring Garden Records, the College’s record label.



O’Neill is a guitarist, songwriter, singer and educator with extensive experience recording in the pop, R&B, gospel, jazz, and rock genres. He has

community flips discussion

On Monday, April 10th, 12:30-2:00pm, we will be hosting a public discussion on the history of sampling in hiphop with Philly’s own John Morrison (DJ / Writer / Producer). John is working on a new project for Spring Garden Records entitled Community Flips, in which he’s using samples created by Community College of Philadelphia Music Dept. students and other Spring Garden Records artists. Details about this project will also be part of the discussion. Hope to see you there!
