From Then Til Now
Christopher Michael Stevens
"From Then Til Now" is a new beginning for Grammy Award Nominated songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Christopher Michael Stevens (trumpet, vocals, keyboards, production). It’s a story that’s been brewing over his entire life and is informed by many years of making music across numerous genres and generations with some of the best artists and musicians in the business. This life journey combines Jazz, Gospel, Pop and Poetry into an intimate collection of works through the lens of faith and hope.
Stevens brings in some of Philadelphia’s top musicians for collaborations on "From Then Til Now". The classically leaning and lush "Heart Strings" features James Poyser (The Roots, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo) on piano, album closer and party singalong anthem "Not Sure Yet (Perseverance)" features Eugene “Man Man” Roberts (John Legend, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg) on synthesizer and the breezy groove of "In the Heavens" has an all-star band of Jay Bratten, Brett Kinard, Marlon Lewis & Korey Riker. Fellow Spring Garden Records artist and former Artist-in-Residence Ben O’Neill (The Mini Q’s) features on "Daylight" and vocalist Shalyah J. Stevens dives into the R&B slow jam "Because It’s Monday (Hold On)" and the indie-infused ballad "Hills and Valleys".
Stevens flexes his gift for crafting immersive sonic journeys and seamlessly blending genres on "From Then Til Now". His trumpet and flugelhorn cut through the swirl of styles with a grounding presence—warm, steady, and unmistakably his own. It’s a testament to Stevens’ vision—not just as a performer, but also a composer who knows how to make experimentation feel both cohesive and deeply personal.
